Frequently Asked Questions
Prestige Valet’s FAQs will get you immediate answers to all your questions regarding our valet and parking services in Houston, TX. Is your question not in our FAQs? Then feel free to contact us.
General & Insurance
Do you provide insurance?
Prestige Valet offers full coverage insurance for restaurants, hotels, and high rises. Every account carries $2M general liability, comprehensive garagekeepers coverage on guest vehicles in our care, and workers’ compensation on every attendant.
Are you fully insured and bonded?
Yes. Prestige Valet is fully insured and bonded across every one of our four Texas metros. Coverage includes $2M general liability, garagekeepers legal liability, and full workers’ comp on every attendant.
What insurance certificates can you provide?
Certificates of insurance (COIs) naming your property, management company, landlord, and any additional insured parties are issued within 24 hours of contract signing. Waiver of subrogation is available on request for corporate-managed properties. Just send us the exact wording your insurance department requires and we’ll deliver.
What is garagekeepers insurance and why does it matter?
Garagekeepers legal liability insurance covers damage to guest vehicles while they are in the care, custody, and control of the valet company. It’s different from general liability — and many valet companies skip it or carry too little. Prestige carries comprehensive garagekeepers coverage on every account.
What happens if a vehicle is damaged?
Damage is documented at check-in with photos and inspection notes so pre-existing conditions are on record. If any damage does occur while the vehicle is in our care, it’s reported to the guest and property immediately, and our garagekeepers policy handles the claim — not the guest, not the property.
Team & Uniforms
Do your valet parkers wear uniforms?
Yes they do. Our guys wear white polo shirts with name tags and black pants with black shoes. Uniforms are provided and maintained by Prestige — not the attendant — so the standard is consistent across every property and every shift.
Are your attendants background checked?
Yes. Every Prestige Valet attendant undergoes a criminal background check and driving record verification during onboarding, before their first shift. Full-time positions and any role at properties that require it (hospitals, corporate campuses) also include a drug screening.
Can your valets drive manual transmission?
Manual transmission is preferred but not required for every attendant — and we deploy stick-experienced staff to properties where high-end manual vehicles are common (luxury hotels, exotic dealerships, private events with performance cars). If your venue expects it, we’ll staff accordingly.
Who supervises attendants during a shift?
Every recurring property has a designated shift supervisor on larger accounts and a site manager on flagship properties. Private events are personally reviewed by the owner in advance and led on-site by a lead attendant. Ownership visits every property regularly.
Pricing & Estimating
How do you determine the price of your valet service?
The cost of the valet service is determined by the number of valets you need multiplied by the number of hours they will be in service for your event. Recurring accounts are quoted per attendant per hour on a monthly service agreement. Private events are flat-quoted per event based on staffing, duration, and package tier.
How many valet attendants will I need?
The first step is to figure out how many cars we’re going to expect. Typically, 50% of your guest count will be the number of cars we will park. Step two: figure out the distance of the parking lot or garage for the cars — longer walks require more runners. Step three: weather, if rain or snow is in the forecast, it is recommended to add additional attendants for better service.
What’s the difference between guest-paid and restaurant-paid valet?
Guest-paid models have guests pay a small ticket fee at retrieval, which can fully offset your labor cost — net cost to the restaurant approaches zero. Restaurant-paid (complimentary) models fit fine dining rooms where valet is part of the dining experience. Many restaurants use a hybrid: complimentary with the option for guests to tip attendants.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. Everything is laid out in the service agreement — staffing count, hourly rate, insurance certificate, cancellation terms. No mystery invoicing, no equipment surcharges, no last-minute add-ons.
Do you require a deposit for private events?
Yes. A signed service agreement and deposit hold your event date on our calendar. The deposit is applied toward the final event fee. Recurring hotel and restaurant accounts do not require a deposit — they operate on monthly invoicing.
Do you offer complimentary valet parking?
Yes — complimentary valet is a common setup for hotels and upscale restaurants where the property pays a monthly service fee and guests park for free. We’ll model both complimentary and guest-paid scenarios in your proposal so you see the math either way.
Technology & Operations
Do you offer ticketless valet parking?
Yes. Our ticketless valet parking service is SMS-based — guests receive a digital ticket when they hand over their keys and text when they’re ready to leave. Their car is at the curb by the time they walk out. No lost paper stubs to argue about at midnight.
How does SMS retrieval work for guests?
At check-in, the guest’s phone number is captured and a digital ticket is sent by text. When they’re ready to leave, they simply text back — usually a single word or a link tap — and the retrieval crew is notified immediately. Their car is brought to the curb within minutes.
Can you integrate with our hotel PMS?
Yes. Our ticketless platform integrates with major hotel PMS systems so valet charges post directly to the guest folio. Nightly reconciliation reports show every transaction with a full audit trail. Ask your Prestige rep for a list of supported PMS platforms.
What technology do you use for parking management facilities?
For managed parking facilities we use automated payment kiosks, license plate recognition (LPR), mobile-app payment and validation, real-time occupancy tracking, and cloud-based revenue reporting. Technology stack is scoped to your facility’s specific needs.
Booking & Timeline
How far in advance should I book valet for my event?
Weddings: 3–6 months out is ideal, especially for Saturday evenings in spring and fall peak season. Corporate holiday parties: book by early October for December dates. Non-peak private events: 2–4 weeks is usually enough.
How fast can you start a new recurring hotel or restaurant account?
5–7 days from signed agreement if your property has private-property parking or an existing valet zone permit. 30–45 days if a new City of Houston or Austin ROW permit is required to account for the permit review timeline.
Can you accommodate last-minute events?
Sometimes — it depends on the date, size, and how much of our floating crew is available. Call us. If we can staff it well, we’ll take it. If we can’t, we’ll tell you honestly and often refer you to a trusted partner.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Recurring accounts operate on 30-day written notice. Private events have specific cancellation windows laid out in the service agreement — typically full deposit refund with 30+ days notice, partial refund inside 30 days, and forfeit inside 7 days. No surprises.
Coverage & Services
What cities do you serve?
Prestige Valet operates across four Texas metros: Houston (our flagship since 2000), Dallas/DFW, Austin, and San Antonio. Same operating standard, same insurance, same technology stack in every market.
What types of venues do you serve?
Hotels (full-service, boutique, limited-service, resort), restaurants (fine dining, steakhouses, upscale casual), medical facilities, corporate campuses, event venues (weddings, galas, corporate events, private residences), country clubs, shopping malls, and mixed-use developments.
Do you serve residential events like birthday parties?
Yes. Private residence events are one of our specialties — birthdays, milestone celebrations, holiday parties, fundraisers, and family gatherings across Memorial, River Oaks, West University, Tanglewood, and every Houston neighborhood.
How large an event can you handle?
We regularly staff events from 50 guests up to 1,000-plus. Small residential parties get a single attendant. Larger events get full crews with runners, radio coordination, and multiple stacking zones. If your event is unusually large or complex, we’ll walk through the specific logistics on the discovery call.
Weather & Special Situations
What happens if it rains?
Every attendant carries an umbrella for guest coverage between vehicle and venue entrance. Our Luxury and VIP event packages add paper floor mats to protect venue floors from wet shoes. Attendants wear rain-appropriate uniforms in inclement weather. Rain doesn’t slow the arrival — we plan for it.
What if my restaurant or venue has no on-site parking?
Common in Downtown, Midtown, Rice Village, and Montrose — and completely workable. We coordinate satellite parking at nearby lots or garages, then shuttle vehicles between the valet stand and the satellite lot. Guests never see the logistics.
Can you handle overnight or 24-hour service?
Yes. Full-service hotels are staffed 24/7 with continuous rotations across day, evening, and overnight shifts. Restaurants and events run their scheduled hours only. Overnight coverage for private residences is available for extended events on request.
Do you handle Houston F1, ACL, SXSW, or other big-event weekends?
Yes — F1 weekend in Austin, ACL Festival, SXSW, and equivalent Houston mega-events (rodeo, holiday galas) are staffed with dedicated crews. Book these dates as far in advance as possible — typically 6–12 months out — because dedicated crews book up first.
